The culture of remembrance surrounding World War 2 is undergoing constant development and continues to stir debates in all respective countries. The war was a catastrophe for the European continent; hence there is a lot to gain from exchanging documentation about the suffering caused by the war across our national borders. This culture of remembrance is now at a crossroads. In the not too distant future there will no longer be direct witnesses to this war. This proposes a challenge for the generations to come that are given the legacy of administrating this dark chapter of European history. The pupils and teachers behind “Stunde Null” have therefore given us an invaluable piece of documentation for the future.
