Trough fishing, catching, trading and shipping, the inhabitats along the Finnmark coast have always adapted to changes. This is not new.

Such a development directly impacts the future generations' knowledge of the coastal culture. As a result, there has been increased focus on cultural heritage and protection of cultural memories, seeing them as resources for local and regional businesses and community development.
