Måsøy museum is located in the centre of Havøysund. Our building was originally a priest housing from 1950.

Norewgian coastal culture is our main theme. We have a full scale small fishingboat on display from the 1960s, a considerable collection of fishing technology after 1940s, a room with much older fishing equipment and gear.

We also highlight presentations of unique local culture. Significantly the "Sea" Sami-population, whom cultural legacy we seek to protect and present.

Of the more curious we have a bust of a french king who came to this area due to exile, and we have a piece of the monstrous warship "Tirpitz" from world war 2. We also show school history and presentation of the local churces, displaying their important contributions to local welfare.

We have an interesting bookshop and special tips for the curious traveller!
